When I spotted Tea & Symphony in February 2012, the first and only thing that came to mind was Jars of Clay's song "Tea and Sympathy". And that's it. Having passed by this place dozens of times, it never occurred to me to drop by, thinking it was another coffee shop (it clearly says "tea" but the little gray cells registered "coffee shop" hehehe).
After my tastebuds discovered milk tea, my tongue was on the look out for other milk tea shops. When a little birdie told me that Tea & Symphony specializes in milk tea, my tongue immediately made plans to pay this little shop a visit.
The day came and I marched in with my partner-in-crime-and-food in tow. Poring over the menu board, I immediately got confused - there were so many to choose from and I am an ignoramus when it comes to teas.

I got cross-eyed with so many options. (Click photo to get cross-eyed yourself.)
With a little help from their staff, we finally decided on the cold wintermelon milk tea and Panda milk tea.
Cold wintermelon milk tea (left) with a sweetness level of 75% and Panda milk tea (right) with a sweetness level of 50%. Yes, you are given the option to skip the sugar (are you on a diet?) or go on a sugar high (up to 100%). Panda milk tea is Tea and Symphony milk tea (by its name, I would say that's the specialty of the house hehe) with black and white pearls (this is what makes it into a panda, I suppose). The pearls are -- ding ding! you got it! -- sago (tapioca balls). So soft and chewy! Is it just me or are the black ones sweeter than the white ones?
After finishing our drinks, we wanted more!
A cold Hokkaido milk tea please! With black pearls (can't get enough of sago) and aloe vera (to help make my mustache shiny)! And pour on the sugar (100%)! Methinks the aloe vera is better on the hair than on my tongue.
Tea & Symphony's drinks are brewed except the non-tea ones (almond, coconut, taro).
The verdict? Wintermelon milk tea wins.... this round! (Oh yes, you will see more of me Tea & Symphony!)

How going on a milk tea spree bore a hole thru Mustachio's pocket:
Cold wintermelon milk tea (medium) Php 65
Panda milk tea (medium) Php 75
Cold Hokkaido milk tea (medium) Php 65
Extra topping: Aloe vera Php 15
Extra topping: Black pearls Php 15
We had the same first impression (the song and "coffee shop")! Haha! Me thinks we think alike. Lol. :))
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I found the black pearls here sweeter than average. But I like the aloe vera nata! :)
