Accommodations in Basdaku, Moalboal

Moalboal is a municipality about 90 kilometers southwest of Cebu City. From South Bus Terminal in Cebu City, Moalboal is a 3–hour bus ride away.

The beaches—Panagsama Beach or Basdiot, and White Beach or Basdaku—are about 5 kilometers from the highway and can be reached by tricycle (Php20 per person) or habalhabal (motorcycle).

Bas means sand, diot means small, daku means big.

Though there is little to no sand in Basdiot, there are many resorts and dive shops in this area. Most visitors to Basdiot are divers.

The white sandy shore is in Basdaku (entrance fee of Php5 per person is collected by the local government). There are open cottages for day trippers, areas for camping, and a dozen accommodation options for those who want to stay for a night or two:

At the northern end of Basdaku

Basdaku can get pretty crowded especially during summer. If you are allergic to crowds, pick accommodations on the north end of Basdaku—from Ravenala to Bigsand. Another option, though not directly on White Beach but at the very end where there is no more sand, is Hale Manna [(032) 316 2603, rooms start at Php3800], a relaxing resort with spacious gardens.

  1. Was looking for a place to crash in Moalboal. This post was just a day late. 😁

  2. Hi.. Regarding Delgado's Beach House. I'm kind of hesitant to pay them for the amount of 4k good for one day stay of a family, but it's too expensive man as a reservation. In bigsands, we were only able to pay 1k as reservation for their big room and we stayed there for 4D3N last year.

  4. Hi, are these room rates and mobile phone #'s updated?

  5. I like your blog as it is detailed and not common compared to other blogs. Yours is so informative that you put rates and contact numbers. There are a lot of activities to do in Moalboal and there are really a lot of resorts to choose from. For tourists, visiting this place is breathtaking and good to relax at. To add more adventure, you can rent a motorbike or scooter at book2wheel.com . This is way better than riding on a bus or taxi.

  6. Hi, is it possible to pay only for the entrance fee since we're bringing our own tents? And is it ok to have bonfire in the area?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Jaharah. Yes, just pay the entrance fee, but it might also depend where you camp (not sure if some areas charge for camp space). As for bonfire, I have not tried it nor asked around about it nor have I seen people make a bonfire at Basdaku.

    1. Hi Bryan! If you're just going for a day trip, you don't need to go to any of the resorts...they all share the same beach :) But if you're looking for a resort, Hale Manna (though not on Basdaku but on the end of Basdaku where they have sand only on low tide) has a day use rate which includes the use of their pool, kayak, snorkel and mask, etc.

Nabasa ko sa iba blogs na pangit daw ang beach sa Ester's, mabato. I think sa dulo na ba sya kaya ganun? Can you recommend us where is the best place to stay. Thank you :)

    1. Hi. Thanks for visiting my blog. I usually stay at the far end of White Beach, from Ravenala to Bigsand, because it is less crowded...and I just walk the stretch and find a nice spot for a swim. While you're in Moalboal, I recommend you go boating. Check out this link for the wonders that await you in Moalboal's waters: http://mustachioventures.blogspot.com/2015/07/marine-life-moalboal-snorkeling-boating.html

    1. Hi! Thanks for visiting the blog. A lot of people camp near HK Resort/Sandy Land/Magic's Place. Not sure how much they charge for space. But if you want to stay inside a resort, then Bigsand Resort and Campgrounds definitely would allow that. Not sure with other resorts, better call them and inquire. Contact numbers are listed above.
