When my sisters and I first visited Taipei in 2014, there were two choices to get to Taipei from the airport: bus and taxi. Five years later, another option: Taoyuan Airport MRT!
There are six trips every hour and the journey from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei Main Station takes 35 minutes (express/purple) to 50 minutes (commuter/blue). The fare is 160NTD per way.
We booked roundtrip tickets through Klook for only 280 NTD. We had to show the Klook voucher at the booth in the airport to exchange it to MRT tokens (one for each way) and a coupon for a free gift to be claimed at any Red Sakura branch.
Buying the tickets through Klook not only saved us some money, but also saved us time from figuring out how to buy MRT tickets/tokens from the machine. The journey from the airport to Taipei Main Station (our stop) and back was smooth and easy. So glad to have this transportation option to get to and from the airport!
