Taipei Accommodation: Haozhan Hotel

Since there were four of us in the group, I booked the quad room for five nights for a total of 11,000 NTD (New Taiwan dollar). That's 2200 NTD per night (around 4180 PHP). Haozhan Hotel also has double and triple rooms. Each room has a private toilet and shower.

Our quad room was a bit on the small side but provided everything a guest needed: airconditioning unit, TV, kettle, mugs, refrigerator, slippers, blow dryer. Toothbrush, comb, shower cap, and towel were also provided for each guest. The towels were changed and trash bins were emptied daily.

We arrived early but were allowed to check in since the room was already ready. The staff/receptionists could not speak/understand English, but the male receptionist had a translator app so it was okay.

By the reception area was a refreshments corner: water dispenser, microwave, coffee, tea, snacks. All for free. It was in that little corner where we discovered a crunchy noodle snack that we got addicted to and kept coming back for every day.

Haozhan Hotel is located in the northern part of Wanhua District. Wanhua District is where Ximending (what most of us know as the area for shopping), The Red House, Bopiliao Old StreetLongshan Temple, and tons of restaurants are.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk to MRT stations (Beimen and Ximen) and Taipei Main Station. On the ground floor in the building next to the hotel is a convenience store.

When we stayed in Haozhan Hotel in Taipei in January, the hotel was barely two months old. The building it was in was clearly old; it was just the hotel, which was on the second floor, that was new. Looking at the building from the outside, you wouldn't expect a nice, clean hotel in its belly.
